The grantee is expected to coordinate efforts that inform older Americans and people with disabilities about available federal and state benefits, with particular focus on the Medicare Part D Low-Income Subsidy (often called Extra Help) and Medicare Savings Programs (MSPs). The NCBOE is also intended to serve as a technical assistance resource center for state grantees funded under the Medicare Improvements for Patients and Providers Act (MIPPA).
